H-1B CAP SEASON BEGINS MARCH 1

On January 28, 2022, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced the registration period for H-1B cap* season, 2023. This coming fiscal year will open on March 1, 2022 and will close at noon, March 18, 2022 – giving employers 18-days to submit registrations for prospective employees, via the USCIS online H-1B registration system.

This program allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers, seasonally, for jobs that require highly specialized skill sets and training, typically with education profiles beginning at the Bachelor’s degree level. For 2023, Congress has made 65,000 such visas available for Bachelor degreed workers and another 20,000 for those with a Master’s degree or beyond.

Employers are asked to first set up an account on the myUCIS portal. New accounts may be set up, beginning February 21, 2022. There is a $10 registration fee charged for each prospective employee.

*The H-1B cap is a numerical limit placed on the amount of foreign workers authorized to work in the United States annually under H-1B status.
