One of the major downsides of the current, Corona epidemic is the limitation of travel. As we have entered into the realm of spring, summer is sure to follow. It can be rather irritating and frustrating; especially, when the beautiful weather is coming into being. The sun is brightly shining; hoping it gets the chance to gloss your skin. While you are able to get a taste of this honey jewel, standing outside of your home, there is that yearning of experiencing fun and sun, in traveling to different lands. Well, during this current time, that has all come to a temporary end. At least, for now.

Then again, that doesn’t mean you can not experience the essence of travel, and all the excitement it entails, when planning for a trip. Planning for trips, and envisioning all of the wonderful things you can do on vacation, is what can still connect us to the excitement of traveling. As we are working from home, or engaging in social distancing practices, getting into our creative side can kick in, when it comes to the travel world. Of course, I don’t just mean watching videos, or only looking at pictures, to highlight our travel experiences. What if there was more that we can do, within this given period of time; in taking on, further riches of the travel experience? Thinking about things we never really did, during that last vacation, or trip we went on. While being slightly immobile, we have the opportunity to take a different approach in how we would like to travel, next time. With that being said, here are a few suggestions in how you can use these current, indoor times, to add more adventure and fun to your next vacation, after corona, is over.

For the next place, or few places, where you would like to attend, research culinary dishes from those spaces. Wearing your gloves, face mask, and disinfectant, purchase all of the ingredients from your local, food market. Buy the spices and scents, connected to those dishes. Get in the kitchen, and work your miracle for cooking.

Get a huge board, or construction paper, and glue those images onto them.

There are different ways that we can still give ourselves the vacation-type vibe, as we are getting through the corona epidemic. Being inside, or limited to one place, does not mean that we have to deny ourselves the energies, associated with vacation vibes. If we look at this from a more positive approach, we are actually preparing ourselves for a more thrilling and endeavoring vacation experience. We are getting practice in our transition; from tourists to travelers. When these given times are finished, we can have a different perspective in how (and why) we are traveling. Yes! Traveling is an having fun! Its also soul searching. When we go on vacation, and travel to certain places, we are also bringing our stories and personal, life journeys.

Vacations should propel us into our connection with other people and cultures. Travel allows us to discover new things about ourselves. That’s the essence of movement. How we react, and perform, when we are in unfamiliar (and foreign) spaces is telling! It gives us that incentive to go into deeper parts of who we are as individuals. This year, why not start with the inside, as opposed to going out. Re-defining what traveling truly means, and how we can do it better, for the next time around. After all, there’s no place like home, to start!
