If you were to draw out your dream talent acquisition career ladder, what titles would the rungs be made from? Recruiting Manager, Senior Technical Recruiter, Director of TA? CHRO?
CHRO. Look at you, reaching for the stars. The truth is, even if your career hit nothing but green lights, it’s impossible to predict where exactly you’d end up, or what roles you’d be filling.
Matt Hughes, former Head of Talent at Hired, fearless purveyor of open roles, father to an Australian Shepherd Rottweiler mix, leader to an elite squad of sourcers and recruiters, podcast panelist extraordinaire, and aspiring vessel to the recruitment gods, is a great example. Though he earned his stripes as a recruiter, even going as far as to say he would never turn to the “dark side” (HR), Matt now finds himself as the Director of People Operations at Gigster. He made his glorious return to Talk Talent To Me to discuss how recruiters should consider various talent functions in terms of their own career progression, and how he’s come to understood the HR/Recruitment relationship having seen both sides.
Matt’s also enjoyed some success lopping almost two weeks off Gigster’s speed to hire, as well as instilling an obsession with funnel metrics amongst his recruiting team. To hear how he’s managed it, you can stream the full conversation below. And don’t forget to subscribe via iTunes, Google Play, or anywhere else fine podcasts are streamed.
