The U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) has issued new compliance assistance guides for contractors.

OFCCP at a Glance provides contractors with a description of the work the agency performs as well as the different responsibilities contractors need to comply with.

Contractors unsure of what to expect when working with the OFCCP should consult the new guide, which outlines the agency’s commitment to communicate effectively with contractors. The guide highlights the OFCCP’s efforts to respond to questions, provide feedback, collaborate, and engage in open discussion with contractors regarding compliance evaluations.

The OFCCP recently elected its first Ombudsman, Marcus Stergio who will work with a variety of OFCCP stakeholders nationwide, including federal contractors and subcontractors, to provide assurance to contractors and other stakeholders that OFCCP is treating them fairly, in a manner consistent with the Agency’s legal authorities, policies, and procedures.

The OFCCP created the Postings and Notices Resource Guide in an effort to help contractors comply with their legal obligations. The notice provides clarity on the equal employment opportunity postings and notices it requires contractors to make visible to employees and applicants. One of which relates to contractors’ commitment to nondiscrimination and equal opportunity obligations, a topic that continues to surface across the nation.

The OFCCP also has issued a guide for applicant tracking, Section 503, VEVRAA and EO 11246. Contractors can view these respective guides and best practices for recordkeeping by clicking here.

The OFCCP enforces EO 11246, Section 503 and VEVRAA, which prohibit contractors and subcontractors from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. In addition, these laws require federal contractors to take steps to ensure equal employment opportunity in their employment processes.
