Winners of the i4cp 2019 Next Practice Awards Announced in Advance of Annual Conference

The recipients of the i4cp 2019 Next Practice Awards have been announced ahead of this year’s annual conference. Booz Allen Hamilton, Ecolab Inc., Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), and ABB are recognized for leading-edge people practices that have positively impacted their businesses.

The winners will be honored on stage at the i4cp 2019 Next Practices Now Conference (March 11 – 14) at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona.

Research by the Institute for Corporate Productivity (i4cp) has found that effective learning and development techniques and workforce planning are two critical ways to both mitigate talent risk and have positive impact on market performance. The award-winning submissions centered on initiatives to improve the employee experience and alleviate talent risk.

  • Booz Allen Hamilton—The global firm created a centralized talent marketplace in response to feedback that employees were leaving the company to seek new opportunities and experiences, unaware of existing openings and projects within the firm. Employees can now access opportunities available across the enterprise and utilize a network to build new internal connections. Employee experience ratings related to internal mobility increased over five percent.
  • Ecolab—This leader in water, hygiene, and energy technologies and services knows that talent in its many forms—full-time, contingent, and otherwise—is critical to supporting and enabling growth. By leveraging cloud-based software that integrates with its people management systems, the company is taking important steps to manage thousands of its contingent workers, drive consistency, and enable control. With additional global deployments ahead, the new system has saved Ecolab $9.7 million to date and helps manage more than 1,000 workers and $70 million in spend.
  • Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL)—A leading professional services firm that specializes in real estate and investment management, JLL invested in a massive overhaul of its end-to-end leadership development program. The revamp has resulted in quantifiable results such as 87% retention of direct reports for managers who participate in the development programming.
  • ABB—The Zurich-based global technology leader in power grids, electrification products, industrial automation, and robotics invested in the development of its leaders to foster the required attitudinal and behavioral changes to be prepared for today’s volatile and uncertain world.

The discovery of next practices —human capital tactics and/or strategies that are highly correlated with market performance, but that few companies are employing—is one of the i4cp’s primary focuses. To that end, i4cp looks to its network of member organizations to uncover world-class examples of next practices in action. The Next Practice Awards showcase the design, implementation, and measurement of innovative people practices that effectively address business challenges.
