Is it time to change your Talent Acquisition System?

Over the years, I’ve had many discussions with clients thinking that it’s time to change their current Talent Acquisition System (TAS). But why?

Often times, they believe another vendor’s system has better features that they could leverage within their process. This is very likely one of the main reasons, but is it realistic? Many companies deploy software, and then simply let it run. Some of the key features that they’re looking for might already be available in the software they are using, but were never implemented or turned on.

This is especially true when using a SaaS product, as new system releases can easily go unnoticed. Staying up to date with what’s being released by your software vendor is key to maximize the return on your investment. If you’re a system administrator, make this one of your tasks! First, contact your vendor to find out how often they have product releases. Second, based on that information, plan accordingly. Finally, once per quarter or twice per year, mark your calendar to review the release notes. This will provide you with valuable insight into what new features can be used by you and/or your user base.

Speaking of user base, let’s not leave them out of this discussion. As mentioned before, many of the new features will be intended for the end users. Some of these features will make their tasks easier to perform; therefore, promoting user adoption. Throwing a brand new system in front of your user base will be a big challenge to overcome. Training alone can’t compensate for months or years of experience using the same system.

Another very important piece is your data. You’ll have to decide if you want to keep the current data (migrating it) or start fresh. Compliance with state and federal laws might also come into play hear, so tread wisely; migrating data is not an easy task.

The key is really staying up to date with the software’s full capabilities. You might be missing out on some great features, whether they’re intended for users, employees, or candidates. Everyone can benefit from them.

Fortunately HRchitect can help you determine whether your current TAS will meet your ongoing needs, or if it is time for a preplacement. HRchitect will work with you to ensure that your system is configured in a way to meet your changing needs with a Healthcheck, which is essentially an assessment of your current ATS and configuration and utilization to identify optimization opportunities. At the completion of the Healthcheck, you will receive a report including findings and recommendations of proposed next steps, a deployment strategic plan, including a communication an change management plan, as well as ongoing support.

If it is determined that you need to replace your current system, our Secure Evaluation and Selection process will ensure that you get the right system for your needs.
