If you could design the perfect “Return to Work from COVID-19” HR-compliance presentation…

Ok, confession time.

I’ve procrastinated on preparing the slide deck for my upcoming presentation, A Return to Work from COVID-19: EEO and Other Employment Law Considerations,  for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

I plan to cover the latest developments on EEO and other employment law considerations and COVID-19 to help organizations, large and small, adapt to this new environment.

At least that’s what the description says that I’m supposed to cover. But I’m not worried.  All is well, and I’ve got this totally under control.

I just need something to break the ice. Ooh, how about these hostile-work-environment-free bad dad jokes that:

  • My uncle works for a company that makes bicycle wheels. He’s the Spokesman.
  • What kind of pizza did the pilot prefer? Plain.
  • I want to tell you a joke about a girl who only eats plants. You’ve probably never heard of herbivore.
  • How do you weigh a millennial? In Instagrams.

Those will kill, and that last one will take at least 20 seconds for the laughter to subside.  So, I only have like 58 more minutes to fill. 🤔

People tell me that the Americans with Disabilities Act has something to do with returning to work, right? And I just updated a company’s Families First Coronavirus Response Act policy yesterday. Come to think of it; there was something in there about the Family and Medical Leave Act too. Are FFCRA and FMLA still a thing? I think they are. Plus, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division also administers the Fair Labor Standards Act. I imagine there’s something I could say about that too.

Ok, I do have plenty of material. But, what I’d like to do is address the HR-compliance issues with which the best damn blog readers in the world are wrestling right now.

So, here’s what I propose: If you have a specific topic idea, lay it on me. Maybe I’ll use it; perhaps I won’t. But either way, I will email you a copy of my slide deck when it is finished. Sounds good?

And if you’d like to register for the entire day of the Indianapolis District and Philadelphia District Regional Virtual EEO Seminar – Navigating the New Normal on September 29, you can do that here and CLEs are available.
