I come bearing HR-compliance gifts for you today

Two of them, actually.

Check out this employment law blog.

Who Is My Employee? is a blog from employment attorney Todd Lebowitz that explores independent contractor misclassification & joint employment issues. Todd is a partner at Baker & Hostetler in Cleveland, Ohio. Yesterday, he was in Philly. And, over a cup of coffee, we had the chance to hang out of a bit to discuss the Phillies, employment law, and blogging.

Actually, I have a confession. I didn’t have coffee in my cup. It was ginger turmeric tea. There, I said it!

Hopefully, you don’t let my choice of caffeine-free mid-afternoon heated beverages impact my blog recommendation. Todd’s is legit!

(And he drank coffee).

Check out this Workplace Accommodation Toolkit.

Special shoutout to my FisherBroyles employment law partner, Amy Epstein Gluck.

(Amy also co-authors a killer employment law blog with Richard Cohen)

Amy emailed me yesterday to ask if I had ever seen the JAN Workplace Accommodation Toolkit. “JAN” is the Job Accommodation Network to which I’ve linked many times on this blog when discussing issues arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act. But, I had never seen this toolkit of which she wrote.

Well, hot damn is it good!

The toolkit “enables employers to educate their applicants and employees about accommodations.” It includes best practices and other contributions from businesses like DuPont, JP Morgan Chase, and General Motors, and it provides training tools for:

  • Recruiters
  • Hiring Managers
  • Supervisors
  • Consultants (and other subject matter experts); and
  • Employees (and co-workers)

You’ll find training modules, videos, white papers, forms, checklists, and more.

You enjoy your Wednesday gifts. And if you’re looking to reciprocate, all I ask is for registered bonds and pumpkin futures some good vibes for the Boston Bruins tonight in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
