You might think it’s no big deal, but it is! When you hire wrong employees, it slows down a company’s growth process and instead of ploughing forward, teams start concentrating only on delivering right. This lag in pace is highly discerning in the long run.

On the other hand, the right employees are invested in a company’s success, and give in their best shot at everything they do. This leads to a sense of personal achievements as well. So in order to enjoy a space of mutual benefit, it’s important for the business strategy to align well with the company talent.

A Gallup study shows,

60% of millennials are open to a new job, even if they aren’t actively searching for one. Researchers estimated that this high rate of millennial turnover costs the American economy about $30.5 billion each year.

As an HR manager,  you need to bring the talent and company strategies together. Knowing both sides of the story, you are uniquely positioned to lead discussions in the right direction and drive employees to become more invested in their role as a contributor.

Align company vision with employees’ vision:

Start by clearly communicating the company vision. Be concise and transparent, chalking out the path you wish to take in the process. Let them know that you are open to inputs and discussions, so that they feel more invested in the process as well.

Whenever a company truly has an exciting and charged up culture, you will see the effect of it on the employees. They are always proud of being a part of it.

There are certain steps you can follow to gain perfect alignment:

Pick candidates carefully:

Without a clear definition of the role, if you hire just to fill a position, that will not fetch you the desired results. Make sure the job requirements are well streamlined. As an HR manager, you can then align the new recruits to the mission and vision for the company.

Be transparent:

Draw the strategy with great clarity as to where the company is headed and what is the path that needs to be taken. Then align the managers to the same so that they ensure that their team gets the right message. Hence all the employees know exactly how their daily work routine fits into the larger picture.

Streamline tasks better:

Review the list of tasks along with the team heads and remove those that are unnecessary, tedious and time consuming. For example, a long and drilling annual performance review might not be what your company needs. Don’t let your employees waste precious time and effort in it. Various studies show that a continuous feedback process between managers and employees is more feasible these days.

Companies that understand the significance of embracing a world where talent is well aligned with the business strategy, is often more successful in drawing the right kind of people to work for them and achieves success at the staggering rate.
