Four Leadership And Transformation Opportunities To Round Out 2020

Forbes Coaches Council

Founder of the Legacy Leaders Institute, Transforming Executives & Entrepreneurs into High-Performing Impact Leaders.

As we approach the last quarter of 2020, there may be dread or excited anticipation, and in some cases, both. If you have a leadership role, the bottom line is your position impacts the entire organization. The bigger question is are you creating positive, inspiring and lasting impact or not?

Granted, it is not easy to be a stand-alone leader during significant uncertainties, but it is still possible to produce valuable results and tangible success. When we maximize the opportunities that we have control over, so much is possible. Here are four high-impact leadership and transformational opportunities you can capitalize on to exit this year feeling like a true champion:

Business Models And Value Creation

We have an excellent opportunity to revisit how our organization creates, delivers and captures value, especially in new economic, social and cultural contexts. Business model reconstruction and modification are necessary through innovation and new business strategy forms that reflect current environments. If we can do this effectively, our value increases and/or stays intact despite what is going on nationally or internationally.

Adaptability And Resilience

What is a better way to demonstrate human effectiveness in adaptability and resilience than through leadership in action daily? Daily action allows us to make quick changes as well as meaningful and lasting transformations beyond our role, within our talent and teams, and ultimately our organizations. Why is this so important? In my experience, the most resilient and adaptable teams succeed more often than those who resist, feel stuck and are unwilling to change. The best part is that volatile times present a tremendous opportunity to navigate change by creating space for optimum performance.

Workforce Upskilling

One of the smartest moves, while business is slow, is working on upskilling your employees' new skills, especially for specialized skill sets ranging from new digital to technological systems to leadership development. The best approach, in my opinion, would be for organizations to fill their current talent vacancies while creating internal, cross-departmental development opportunities. This is a great way to motivate and engage virtually working talent! Even better, by leveraging organizational culture for global competitiveness, we can also accelerate growth for consistent organizational success.

Future Planning

Even though we are experiencing a high level of uncertainties, it is essential that leaders stay optimistic about the future while adjusting to a new normal by encouraging and supporting future goals. This way, we will be able to increase talent and team engagement, foster creativity and innovation, boost effective team problem-solving and improve service offerings in a way that will also stabilize the organization and customer experience.

At the end of the day, individual and organizational success comes when we lead our talent and teams by doing great things for them. And today they need us more than ever before. Because of this, we need to be more conscious while exercising our power through awareness. What we decide to do matters the most in times of tremendous change — choose wisely as there is no room for no action or complacency.
