A Career Choice is a Life Choice Logo

In this week’s A Career Choice is a Life Choice Q&A we talked with Zeke Lim of The Roman Guy, a travel company that offers tours in Italy and Paris. Read about his career path and what it takes to be an SEO Content Writer.

DB: Ciao, Zeke! Thank you for taking the time to speak with me today. Can you tell me what your job is at The Roman Guy?
ZL: I am an SEO Content Writer for The Roman Guy, a Philadelphia-based tour operator offering tours through Italy and Paris. I love my career working for a really cool company in the travel industry.

DB: Can you tell me a little about your career path that led you to The Roman Guy?
ZL: I graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature, and began working for Comcast as a technical support representative after deciding that I no longer wanted to pursue a teaching career. I worked for Comcast for ten years, during which I obtained a Master’s degree in Communications. After working in the startup space, consulting, and real estate industries, I came to The Roman Guy to leverage my travel experience and pursue a career in writing.

DB: What do you love most about writing for The Roman Guy?
ZL: I love writing about history and ancient cultures. Much of the content strategy at The Roman Guy revolves around keyword research, and many of our touring destinations have a rich cultural history. I also love making data-driven decisions, which is important when implementing and executing a content strategy.

DB: What has been the biggest learning to date from your career path?
ZL: The biggest lesson that I’ve learned from my career path is that a desire to learn is nothing without sound execution. You can’t let yourself fall into paralysis by analysis.

DB: When you’re looking to hire someone on your team, what is your favorite question to ask them?
ZL: We are actually currently looking to hire for multiple positions, including a Digital Ad Strategist and Content & SEO Manager. My favorite question to ask a potential candidate during a phone screen is “What are the three different ways to spell site/sight/cite, and how is each one used?” This question assesses a candidate’s grasp on grammar.
