7 of the best company culture videos

Reading Time: 5 minutes

The best company culture videos really capture the employee experience.

Company culture videos give real insight to candidates actively considering you as an employer. When you are honest about what it’s like to work at your company, candidates can make better, more informed career decisions. This translates into better employee engagement, reduced turnover, and more corporate productivity and profit.

And, the best culture videos best position your company as a great place to work for the right person. Great employer branding and recruitment marketing content lets the right candidates develop an emotional connection to your brand’s culture, and transforms viewers into motivated candidates. Candidates will picture themselves as an employee, with those storytellers as coworkers, walking those halls, having those experiences.

Here are seven of the best company culture videos.

1. Dell Technologies

How do you accurately communicate culture for a company that has offices in 180 countries and employs over 100,000 people? Dell Technologies focuses on the universal employee experience, diving into universal values and programs like flexibility, inclusivity, empowering employees, employee resource groups, and tech progress. A great culture video like this will capture what’s it’s like to work at your company no matter where or who you are, transcending specifics like office location, job positions, and tenure.

2. BambooHR

BambooHR used their culture video to dispel a misconception some candidates might have about working at a startup like theirs. Aren’t high growth startups a real grind? Doesn’t success mean sleeping at the office and sacrificing your personal life? Not at BambooHR, says this video.

First, they address the generalization. Then, they define what work/life balance means in their workplace (limiting work to 40 hours). Finally, they used employee stories to prove to it’s for real. Supported by BambooHR’s work/life balance, team members show us they really do have the physical and mental space for outside interest like time with family, hobbies, and more.

3. BAE Systems, Inc.

Sometimes you need to communicate team culture to give candidates the most specific view into an employee experience. For example, this video shows the visual realities of the workplace for those that work in the shipyard.

Another tip when creating team culture content: Don’t forget to tie it to organizational mission. BAE Systems, Inc. focuses on how one team contributes to the mission of the company.

4. Patagonia

Patagonia features a revolutionary policy and program they’ve had since 1983: onsite childcare. More than a cool perk and footage of cute kids, this video weaves in their founding story and values and explains the financial sense behind the program. Most importantly, it shows an organizational impact that transcends free childcare: some of the leaders in their company today were children in the on-site child care program 30 years ago! It’s a leadership development program too!  This video is not just for parents. It gives you insight into how Patagonia creates unique opportunities to serve its culture and people, that’s also good for business.

5. Loews Hotels

Multiple employee perspectives harmonize in an ode to Loews Hotels’ corporate value of family. Yes,  “we’re like family” is an often-used phrase that usually doesn’t illustrate culture well. However, the difference here are the supporting stories that bring the value “home” and give candidates great insight into the workplace culture.

6. KASASA

Kasasa takes the core value video to heart by focusing on one of their core values: love. Core values are very important to organizational culture, but are often wasted opportunities to give culture clarity to candidates during the recruiting process. Without supporting stories to illustrate the value in action, they are indistinguishable from company to company and can mean nothing to candidates. This video’s cold open is the right tone for an emotional story to set the stage for a collection of stories surrounding love for their clients, company, and coworkers.

7. Cirrus Logic, Inc.

An oldie but a goodie. This classic Cirrus Logic compilation shares several inspiring and personal reasons why employees love working there … without anyone saying a word! Employee quotes that embrace Cirrus Logic’s core values are written on white boards all over the office while employees act out their stories.
