Employee engagement

Easy remote team building activities that will get your employees involved

Remote working is a new phenomenon to a majority of the workforce as the whole business arena was depending on the traditional way of working. The ball is in the court of the companies to choose whether to stick to the work from home model or in office premises or a hybrid working model, considering the employees’ inputs. However, one thing is for certain, with the second and third waves of COVID, work from home is to stay for a while.

Remote workers easily feel disconnected and isolated due to the reduced interactions between an employee and other team members or the management.

How to overcome the challenges confronted in terms of well-being, engagement, and productivity?

The HR team must plan remote team-building activities to keep the team always connected to the company.

Now, let’s look at the activities that could be done within an organization.

How About Friday Quizzes?

At Synergita, our HR conducted quizzes every Friday for around 40 minutes. All the participants actively involved in sending responses and that really felt like a great company moment to everyone.

Why don’t you try these quizzes at your company too?

  1. Send the invites about the quiz
  2. Make it strictly individual participation to bring everyone into the game.
  3. Prepare a few trivia questions beforehand. Create a PPT for those questions. (Perhaps, about Harry Potter or Avengers or some informative quizzes about Geography or important persons in History)
  4. Instruct the participants to respond to the questions in the chatbox.
  5. Select the winners and send them an email recognizing them or if possible, a small reward to encourage more participation the next time.

Is your Team too much into Brain Games?

This is your chance to bring different teams together. An hour would suffice to conduct the brain-games-based engagement activity.

What do you have to do to successfully conduct this game?

  1. Send invites to everyone and ask them to form a group of four to five individuals, who are from different teams. No two members of the same team should be present in a group.
  2. Conduct board games or puzzles or riddles between different teams and keep finalizing the winner after each round. Conduct each round on different days of a week.
  3. For finals, create a big buzz that there are many people waiting to cheer other teams and watching it with more interest.
  4. Incentivize the winners by providing a small reward or an award like “Brain Champion of ABC company.”

Coffee Smells Nice and Sounds Like a Good Plan

Coffee is the soul uplifter for many people. When working from the office, team members would go to the cafeteria to have a cup of coffee together. It is stressful as they could not do it anymore.

Therefore, they would be really excited if they learn that their company is arranging for a virtual coffee break event for an hour to have interesting conversations with peers.

The steps are very simple.

  1. Send a mail to all your employees to be ready with a cup of coffee and snacks.
  2. Connect the meeting call and start a conversation, which the team members will continue further.
  3. Arranging meetings among the members of one team each day would help a great deal to promote teamwork.

For cross-team collaboration, go for brain games or brainy quizzes.

Virtual Dumb charades? Just With Hand Signals

Give it a try. That will be the most interesting and funny team-building activity out of everything. This will 100% engage your employees the most. Let each team be a group participating in the game. And there should be strictly NO cheating. ? The time taken for this activity will be 1 hour.

How do you ensure that?

  1. Inform the teams to send every individual’s name in the group.
  2. Name the teams as A, B, C, D, so on. Select an individual from each team and call them to tell the word that should be enacted.
  3. The important rule of the game is that the individual should attend the call with the screen on and mute mode.
  4. Even after ending the call, the employee should have both hands within the focus area of the camera and start describing the word.
  5. Find the winner group and give them a title until the next game.

There will be many hilarious guesses in this team-building activity, which makes it amusing to the employees.

Special Health Care Activities. Well-Being is Important

Employees work from home and they hardly do any activity to keep themselves fit unless they are a fitness freak. Exercise should be a part of everyday routine, and the companies should help the workforce to keep themselves healthy and fit.

There should be a long-term goal and a short-term goal. Take the medical records of the employees and get a paid physical trainer to conduct sessions every day for 45 minutes. Being active for the whole 45 minutes every day should be the short-term goal. And achieving fitness at the end of a particular period should be the long-term goal.

The management should track the goals and the progress of the employees. In the end, they should reward the employees with something he/she really wants. Because a lot of effort has gone into completing this task. This would, in turn, motivate others. An employee’s health determines a company’s wealth. Don’t you agree?

Employee Engagement Surveys

The ultimate goal of all these activities is employee engagement rate and encouraging team collaboration.

How do you find out that you are on the right track? Take the inputs of the employees by asking them to rate the activities and also the feedback. This will help you and your company to learn the concerns of the employees and make changes accordingly.

Synergita, an employee engagement and performance management software, helps you with readily available templates to conduct a survey within your organization. You can also customize your forms as per your needs.
