Can You Hear Me Now?

Computers may be the flashy new generation of the communications family, but the telephone continues to be the reliable older cousin. In fact, good business solutions today include a telephony option––when the business environment calls for it.

Take, for example, an advanced time and attendance system with a telephony option. No matter where they are working out in the field, employees are reassured knowing they have a phone number they can clock into. They can dial a standard phone number or a customized toll-free number from a landline or cellular phone.

Similarly, employees are thrilled to learn that a good telephony option requires no training. An Integrated Voice Recognition (“IVR”) guides employees (in English or Spanish) to competently perform various functions.

What would those other functions be? An advanced time and attendance system is about more than just punching in and punching out. Employees can also submit time sheets, check the balance of time-off days, and review the numbers of hours worked.

Without a telephony option, it is likely that employees who don’t have smart phones (and the employer-activated mobile module) would have to drive to the main office just to perform these basic functions, or track time the old fashioned way, on paper. And we already know the issues paper timesheets cause.

Yes, the computer gets all the headlines these days. But that doesn’t mean the telephone is an “old way” of doing business. An advanced time and attendance system simply makes telephony “another way” of getting business done––efficiently and effectively.
