Specifically that incentives don’t work, they are a hangover from “motivation 1.0” While that may make good PR for a book, the fact is that incentives work as well today as they did 20 years ago, 50 years ago or even 10,000 years ago. Incentives do a great job of focusing attention, focusing behavior and signaling what we think is valuable. Incentives work.
