Reminder: 2023 EEO-1 Reporting Opens Today

2023 EEO-1 Reporting Opens Today

Don’t forget that the 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection is officially open today — Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Required employers have until Tuesday, June 4, 2024, to file their data.

Each year, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) collects workforce data from certain employers for various reasons, including enforcement, research and employer self-assessment. All private-sector employers with 100 or more employees, as well as federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria, are required to complete the EEO-1 Component 1 report. More specifically, these employers must submit workforce demographic data that includes information on the racial/ethnic and gender composition of their workforce by specific job categories.

If filers have any questions regarding the 2023 collection, the EEO-1 Component 1 online Filer Support Message Center — the EEOC’s version of a help desk for those filing their reports — will be available to assist beginning Tuesday, April 30, 2024.

Employers must file their information through the EEO-1 Component 1 Online Filing System (OFS) either through manual data entry or data file upload. Employers can use the following resources to help them complete their 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection reporting:

  • The 2023 Instruction Booklet, which consolidates FAQs, fact sheets, and additional eligibility and reporting requirements information for employers to use as they prepare their reports; and
  • The 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 Data File Upload Specifications, which details significant updates to the data file upload specifications, meaning employers may need to update how they produce their EEO-1 Component 1 data file to prevent upload errors.

Collection will remain open through Tuesday, June 4, 2024, which is the last day to file.
