The 10 Must-Read Articles and Posts for Talent Professionals This Week

weekly digest 212

Tech jobs have taken a beating recently, with 55,000 layoffs in the last several months alone. That’s been hard on employees around the world, but especially recruiters, who are often among the first to be shown the door.

Yet even in the toughest times, there are reasons for optimism. “What gives me hope in this particular cycle is the current attitude among the global HR community,” Lars Schmidt writes in a recent post that appeared on both LinkedIn and Redefining Work. “In difficult times, we are often reminded of the Mr. Rogers quote, ‘Look for the helpers.’”

You don’t have to look far to find them. LinkedIn and Twitter currently abound with people offering to help talent acquisition professionals who were laid off or are looking for a job. Lars’s organization, Amplify, is among them. His company is building a new platform, slated to launch in early 2023, that will connect Lars’s network with employers, so people can get back to work.

To find out more about these helpers, be sure to check out the top piece in our list of content below. And further down our list, you can learn about how companies in the U.K. are experimenting with a four-day workweek; why employees find hybrid work arrangements so emotionally exhausting; and how companies are adjusting to new laws requiring them to disclose salary ranges in job ads.
