4 Easy Tips to Avoid Getting Sick at Work

1. Eat Foods that Boost Your Immune System

Make sure to get a variety of different foods in your diet around this time. It’s cold and flu season, and to combat that, eating colorful fruits and veggies can give you that extra boost you need. Incorporating specific foods like blueberries and dark chocolate has been proven to boost your immune system. Adding some extra yogurt to get your dose of probiotics is also a good idea to stay healthier. Maintaining a balanced diet, staying hydrated, and getting enough rest will help you during this holiday season.

2. Keep Hand Sanitizer Handy

Keeping hand sanitizer at your desk is a great way to prevent the spread of germs. There’s always a chance that someone at the office could get a cold, so combating that by sanitizing your hands before eating and after being around people with colds could help.

Washing your hands frequently is also a great way to keep germs at bay. You should also avoid touching your face unless you’ve just cleaned them.

3. Clean Your Space More Frequently

Wipe down your keyboard, phone, and mouse. These are the things you come in contact with frequently. Cleaning your space by the end of the day is a great preventive measure against germs.

4. Manage Your Stress

The holiday season can get hectic at home and at work, but that added stress could definitely take a toll on your health. Stress has been shown to weaken your immune system thus making you susceptible to illness.

Make sure that around this time you make the time for self-care and try to balance your work and personal life. Making time for hobbies is a great way to reduce stress after work.

Avoid taking on too much during the holiday season and try and see which projects you can push back to the next year. Remember that your mental health needs to be taken care of too and something as simple as taking a midday walk outside can give your mind a quick break.

Staying healthy should be a priority in every season, but taking extra preventive measures during the holidays will improve your chances.
