WIRTW #478 (the “Fake ID” edition)

Norah has a small dry-erase calendar hanging inside her middle-school locker. And on that calendar, in the Friday block, she scribbled the words, “Fake ID”.

“Norah,” the Head of Middle School asked her, “why do you have ‘Fake ID’ written in your locker?” She reports that he seemed … concerned.

“That’s just the name of my band. We have rehearsal Friday night.”

My 11-year-old daughter fronts a rock band.

She’s been singing and performing for years. But it’s all been through the structure of School of Rock.

Fake ID is all on their own. She, along with four of her SoR friends (all grades 6 – 8) have put this band together. They chose the songs, are rehearsing hard, and even have their first couple of gigs booked.

Here’s the part where I ask you, my exceptional readers, for a favor.

Do this proud dad a solid (no guilt trips, but I have been doling out free information for the past decade).

Please click over to Facebook and Instagram (they are @fakeidofficialband on both) and give these worthy kids a like and a follow. As excited as I am to see where this goes, I am more proud of her determination, drive, and hard work.

Here’s what I read this week.
