Nothing but our own fear

Steve Boese

I was at the Globoforce WorkHuman Conference earlier in the week, and one of the more interesting aspects of this conference from the many that I attend in the course of the year is Globoforce's willingness to showcase speakers and topics that are not necessarily 'on the nose' with their specific set of technologies and solutions. No products, no users, no user conferences. Not a product of some scary, external circumstance.

How to Find Budget Dollars for Employee Recognition

The Countdown is On For #WorkHuman 2017

Women of HR

I’m a conference junkie. I’m fortunate that I’ve had the opportunity to attend a variety of different conferences over the years, some of them on an annual basis. One that is newer to my repertoire but quickly becoming one of my favorites is the WorkHuman conference, pioneered by recognition giant Globoforce. This conference is now in its third year, and this year will be my second time attending. First of all, it is NOT a user conference.

8 Reasons Employee Well-Being Must Be Self-Managing

HR Bartender

One of the things that I took away from this year’s WorkHuman conference hosted by Globoforce is that well-being must be employee centric. Although disorganization can lead to unproductivity which can lead to being overwhelmed and stressed, being organized doesn’t mean you’re automatically productive and not overwhelmed. Organizations cannot mandate well-being. They do need to create the environment for well-being to thrive, then let employees embrace it.

The Evolving Workplace #WorkHuman 2018

Women of HR

Back in the days of the Industrial Revolution and the dawn of mass production, focus was on efficiency, scale, quality control, and essentially getting “stuff” made. Employees worked on production lines, performing the same tasks over and over, and work was a means to an end. As we shifted from an economy based on production work into an era of more knowledge workers, management theory changed with it. The folks at Globoforce like to call it the “Human Era.”.

Checking in From #WorkHuman Day 1 – Happiness as a Business Strategy?

Women of HR

I’m here in sunny Orlando, FL this week for the 2016 edition of the WorkHuman conference. Now in its second year, WorkHuman is a concept developed by the folks at recognition company Globoforce , and it’s slowly taking on a life of its own. Right from the moment of arrival on site, it became apparent that this is a different kind of HR conference. And let’s face it, without engaged and productive employees, no business can be successful in the long run.

The Business Benefits of Mindful Leadership

HR Bartender

I’m really looking forward to attending this year’s WorkHuman Conference because one of the speakers, Pandit Dasa, a mindfulness expert and former monk, is speaking on mindful leadership. An uninspired worker is not going to be very productive. There’s a good read in Harvard Business Review titled, “ Proof that Positive Work Cultures are More Productive ”. When employees are happy, they’re productive. And when they’re productive, they will stay.
