This is an industry that is heavily regulated, so you can’t just perform an online search and utilize public information to make your staffing decisions. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ), employers must make sure that should they choose to perform a pre-employment screen on a candidate, they protect that candidate from breaches of privacy, falsely reported information and/or discrimination.
