Feeling up to your ears cleaning after your furry friend? Owning a dog is all fun and games until they decide to raid your trash, splash mud on your white and clean walls, and pee on your beddings!

With all these, along with the hair, smell, and stains, you need to clean up twice as hard to keep your house clean! Read on to learn about some pet cleaning hacks every fur parent needs to know!

Neutralize smelly furniture

If you own a dog or a cat, then a pet’s haunting odor absorbed on your furniture is not new to you!

Luckily, we know an odor removing trick that will work to a certain degree, and it’s simple but enough. Follow this to create a DIY pet-friendly cleaning solution to neutralize the odor on your furniture:

  1. Mix 50% hot water and 50% white vinegar
  2. Add a bit of liquid soap, then stir.

White vinegar is especially good at removing not only dog smell but odors in general. You don’t need to worry about the vinegar’s strong scent because it usually fades when the solution dries up.

Introduce a Nice Aroma

After having the odor neutralized, it’s time to introduce some nice aroma in your home (and your car too!)

Before you spray up, check the labels. Make sure that you are using a pet-friendly scent because some scents can be overwhelming to pets, especially dogs having 300 million olfactory receptors in their noses.

We suggest you use lavender oil, although you can also use lemon and tea tree oil. Add 10-drops of lavender oil and some water to an empty spray bottle and pop it into your car! It’ll keep your car smelling fresh during long drives with your pet.

Hacks in Bathing your Dog

Do you have a dog that looks like a mop-head? Oh, poor you! To save you the trouble of having a clogged drain due to pet fur, use a mesh-type scrubbing pad. Clip the pad to the drain plate with a bobby pin. The pads will catch pet fur but let the water flow through.

We also suggest that you invest in a good pet washer to avoid splashing water and dirt everywhere during baths. Pet-washers have targetted bristles that makes it easier to control the flow of water.

Train your pet

Every owner should train their pets! Whether you like it or not, you have to decide what your household rules are- and be consistent with them.

Teach your dog directional commands like when you want them off the couch or bed. It will save you BIG TIME from hours of cleaning your furniture!

Wash Bed Covers with Baking Soda

Baking soda is simply AMAZING! It can be used to remove stains, keep your bed covers clean and fresh, and even get rid of unwanted pet odor! Wash your beddings with a cup of baking soda mixed with your detergent. This will help neutralize any odors.

You can also use this solution when washing your pet’s bed cover. So when picking a pet bed, make sure you opt for one with a removable cover for a much easier washing!
