Utilise Social Media

Social Media is a great invention that allows us to put anything we wish out online for the world to see. Whether it is photos on Instagram or our political views on Twitter, we have a platform and it is upto us how we create that platform and curate it to our needs and benefits. Often jobs can be advertised on Twitter so use the right hashtags such as #jobsinUK or #adminjobs and see what comes up. Look at specific pages such as any job agencies that you like and put your trust in to see what jobs they may be advertising. Look at all job descriptions and the career description and work out what is best suited. Start by introducing yourself to companies you may like to work with and make a good impression. Get a good photo of yourself, tweet well and sound professional, utilise social media to the best of your ability. You can also find job links on Facebook so make sure you’re part of the right groups and pages to really keep on top of any information about local jobs. You might even hear it from word of mouth so be sure to keep on top of the social media opportunities

LinkedIn is another brilliant way to get in touch with brands. They too list jobs frequently and you can use it as a professional Facebook, ensuring that you are on top of industry news, new job opportunities and networking with like minded professionals. This will be great for you to start implementing as time goes on. Social media is powerful!

Go To Fairs And Conferences

Conferences and job fairs pop up all the time and mostly in the big towns. Look online at where they may be holding any that are relevant to your expertise or dream job niche. Some of them are often a general conference for any type of job but you can find out which companies will be there and ensure to make the best possible first impression to ensure you get a call back. Dress well. Dress in a suit or appropriate wear to show you mean business. Get business cards, and hand them out at the relevant events so people can find out how to contact you if a job arises to suit. Look at being formal and professional, shake hands, be polite and warm, offer them information on what your assets are and that you are keen to make a difference and get back to work. Don’t let unemployment hinder you as many people have spells of unemployment it is common and admitting it and learning to use it to your advantage will show people your determination and your inspiration to get a new job.

Some specific brands and companies will have their own job fairs but be sure to keep on top of any mail that they send out with information about events. You can also send your CV over to the right department and ask to be kept on file for any future job opportunities. Often they will let you know if there is an opening and be sure to look at their website as some companies do not list their jobs on mainstream agency websites and will most likely use their own website to promote their vacancies. Look everywhere and start making lists of those you have contacted and be sure to chase them up, politely, to see if they have any suitable roles.

It can be disheartening if you do not have a job and all your friends and family do, however, be sure that it will happen for you and the time is right now.
