At the same time those individuals can vastly under- or overestimate how much a dinner on work topics with colleagues who personally don’t have much common still helps with social needs (and exhausts others). I wanted to point out that it’s very unlikely that ‘work dinners don’t count’ is the case overall, even if there is a whole other dimension to meeting people with whom we have more in common.
