This is a big lesson I had to learn and maybe you do too…it is not my job or my responsibility to heal, save or make someone happy. Let that sink in.

?

So many times we think we have the answer, we can solve someone else’s problems. We know best and we can make everything right.

?

I hate to break it to you, but that’s not our job in life. When we try to do this, we become controlling and manipulative. It becomes more about us than the other person.

?

If you have a loved one in your life that is hurting or unhappy, the best thing you can do is simply be present for them. Without giving advice, without trying to lead them to a conclusion, just be there and hold space for them.

?

Allow them to work out their problems in their own time, not yours. Allow them to feel safe in your presence. Allow them to hit bottom and figure it all out. And when they do, they will feel empowered and whole again.

?

Just be there for support. Be there with your heart, without trying to impose your will on them. Now, that is true love.
