I remember walking home from school once when I was 10, and getting this really unpleasant feeling of being stared at when I walked down an unpaved country road. Nobody else in sight, until I looked a bit higher and saw a magnificent owl with orange eyes sitting on a telephone pole. The pole was right in the bend of the road and the owl kept looking at me until I went round the next bend.
