Your Guide to Job Search and Personal Branding on Twitter

The Bamboo Project Blog

Twitter --the 140 character social networking site--is becoming increasingly useful for job seekers. It doesn't work for everyone, of course, but it can certainly turbo-charge your networking, a key strategy for successful job hunting. It can also be an effective part of your personal branding campaign. Here, then, is a (somewhat) definitive link guide to getting a new job (or losing your current one) through Tweeting. (I I put this together for a client, so thought it would be nice to share).

Knowledge Management: Where We've Been and Where We're Going - Part Two

Conversation Matters

In this series I‘ve classified the evolving landscape of knowledge management into three categories. The first category is leveraging explicit knowledge and is about capturing documented knowledge and building it into a collection - connecting people to content. The second category is about leveraging experiential knowledge and it gave rise to communities of practice and reflection processes. It is primarily focused on connecting people to people.

Team Building

Evil HR Lady

A friend had to go to a mandatory "team building" event. You can probably guess my opinion of such things, but some people like them. Wasting time "building unity" by doing a silly activity such as building a raft, making a dinner or negotiating a ropes course is bad enough during business hours, but this event was held in the evening. You remember the purpose of evenings, don't you? It's time to be at home.

Where Knowledge Management Has Been and Where It Is Going- Part One

Conversation Matters

KM has changed in many ways since its beginning some fifteen years ago, with new tools and new strategies. Counter Offers

Evil HR Lady

I work in California and have recently been offered a similar position with a new company. I turned in my resignation letter today and my boss asked me what it would take to make me stay. I told him that if they increase my salary to match the new offer I would stay. After he talks with his boss and HR, he tells me that they will match the offer but they want to see a hard copy first. I'm wondering if this is violating my privacy rights to salary information.

The Winner is.

Transparent Office

A lot of companies ask me whether contests are a good way to spur social software adoption. In my experience, contests can be very effective in generating buzz, awareness, participation, and enthusiasm. They can also be demotivating and marginalizing. It all depends on how you run the contest, and the right way to do it is counterintuitive. The theory that many people bring to contests is informed by classical economic theory: If you want to motivate people to change their behavior (e.g.,

KeyHubs and Google Wave Are Looking Interesting

A few things that have popped up recently that have me excited to explore further: KeyHubs for Mapping Informal Networks Via a Delicious save from Beth Kanter , I found this article on mapping networks--an interesting read in itself. It led me to Keyhubs , which lets you map the informal networks that lie behind your formal org chart. The case studies show some interesting examples. It appears to evaluate networks based on who people trust, who they go to for advice and who they socialize with.

SaaS vs. On-Premise Software

ReviewSNAP was recently asked by Capterra to give them a list of features or benefits of a SaaS (software as a service) program for their buyers'' guide. There are advantages to both types of software, but it really boils down to the needs of the company. Some Resources for Accessible Learning

The Bamboo Project Blog

In using social media tools for learning (or anything else), one thing I think we often forget is the issue of accessibility. And by that, I don't mean in terms of issues like having access to a computer or broadband, although those are issues as well. Currently I'm working with two different clients who work with individuals with disabilities and one of the things we're grappling with is how accessible these tools are.
