I’ve had the opportunity to work with healthcare clients for over ten years and I want to tell you about a healthcare initiative I’ve been a part of, that is the best example of collective sensemaking I’ve seen. More importantly, I truly believe it is capable of transforming healthcare as we know it – making it both more humane and more effective. It‘s called “Collaborative Care” and it is about involving the whole medical team, including the patient and the families in care decisions.

What Getting Fired Taught Me About Choosing the Right Candidate

I hate to admit it, but I was fired from my first two jobs out of college. I felt like a failure and was dejected, not knowing why I could not succeed despite really trying. I was an accountant then and earned a CPA certification. I had good grades from a very good school and understood accounting theory at an advanced level. In addition, I was a good interviewer and was able to convince people that I was the person they wanted to hire.

31 Million Americans Underinsured In 2014

Almost one out of four American adults, or 31 million people, were underinsured in 2014, a study found. High deductibles or out–pocket costs made medical coverage unaffordable for many, and left others burdened by debt. Data drawn from the Commonwealth Fund Biennial Survey found that half (51%) of underinsured adults reported problems with medical bills, and more than two five (44%) reported they avoided getting needed medical care because of cost.
