For those who love to learn and lead, consult!

March 24, 2016

As a member of the leading Human Capital Management (HCM) consulting firm, HRchitect, I find the field of consulting to be a fascinating one.  Organizations hire consultants generally because they have a problem that they would like help with and don’t have the necessary expertise internally. Our clients see us as experts and as professionals who can efficiently and objectively assist them.  HRchitect consultants have many years of combined experience and we use our knowledge to do the helping required.

Recently, I’ve had time to think more about this topic as I was working with a client recently on a Workforce Management engagement. I realized my enjoyment of consulting includes the joy and love of continuous learning.  Each team that I get to work with, with it is the client team, or the vendor team, I learn from.  I learn how people work or don’t work well together.  I meet people on the way to my engagement that always have an interesting story to tell.  I get to see the principles and practices for Human Resource professionals in the everyday world, including their triumphs and their struggles.  This allows me to hone my skills as a leader in many different situations every day that I put on my consultant’s cap, and get to learn to be a bit better at my craft. This in turn benefits the clients of HRchitect.

At HRchitect, one of the things that has made us the leader we are today has to do with the diversity of people we bring into our organization. It’s not just people who have been consulting but actual practitioners who have been in the shoes of the clients we serve. It brings a unique perspective and something that separates HRchitect from the others.

Do you think becoming an HCM consultant is the right thing for you? Here are 5 reasons to consider consulting as your next career move:

You will be able to:

  1. Use the skills you have learned implementing HCM software at other companies and often in other industries
  2. Exercise your excellent problem solving abilities
  3. Gain exposure to strategic problem solving with colleagues and clients
  4. Meet new people, work with varied teams
  5. Work with people all over the world while working from home and on-site

If you want to know more about HCM consulting opportunities at HRchitect and explore if consulting is right for you, let us know as we are always looking for great people to join our growing team.  I would be happy to answer any questions you may have or introduce you to colleagues who can tell you more.

I love being an HCM strategy consultant, a project manager and an implementation consultant.  I thank my clients, past, present and future, for letting me into your office and onto your team to have the privilege of working with you, earning your trust and rocking the solution.  Hopefully my value exceeded expectations.  I know for certain that it was my pleasure to work with you and learn from you, often in unexpected ways.
