3 Ways Online Video Interviewing has Transformed the Staffing Industry

3 Ways Online Video Interviewing has Transformed the Staffing IndustryThe staffing industry is always evolving, adjusting to new trends and technology in order to attract the best talent and the best clients.  If your staffing business has been staying up to date with the latest technology, you are likely using video interviewing in your processes.  If not, there are several reasons why you should consider implementing video into your staffing business.

1. Faster Selection

If you haven’t given the one-way video interview a shot, you should definitely consider doing so.  As a recruiter, utilizing a one-way video during the pre-screen process is extremely helpful.  It is time consuming and tiring to spend hours upon hours calling candidates and leaving voicemails, or discovering they are unable to speak at that time and have to reschedule.

Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your valuable time doing this!  As you scan applicant resumes, decide which applicants you really want to interview and send them a request to complete a one-way video.

When you set a candidate up for a one-way video interview, you are allowing the candidate to complete the interview on their own time, so there is no need for scheduling or rescheduling pre-screens.

In addition, you are saving yourself time by eliminating that phone conversation that sometimes lasts 20 to 30 minutes.  You will simply decide what you want to get out of the pre-screen by entering a list of questions into the one-way video format so that they are sent to the candidate.  This keeps the pre-screen focused and on topic.

Once the candidate is satisfied with his recorded answers, he will simply submit.  Then, it’s your turn to watch the video (as many times as you desire) and decide if the candidate will make it to the next step in the process.

2. Accurate Selection

By using the one-way video interviewing tool, or even a live video interviewing tool, you are ensuring a more accurate candidate selection based not only on skill but also on personality.

Hiring for cultural fit is just as important, if not more, than hiring for skill.  By using any form of video interviewing, you are allowing yourself the ability to see more than just skill and experience.  When you are able to see a person and speak with him at the same time, you are able to see his personality and energy.  This will help you in determining early on if the candidate will fit in with your client’s company culture.

3. Efficient Screening

When it comes down to it, using video in your interview process is simply an efficient way of recruiting.  Video allows you to truly build those key relationships with candidates and understand what really makes them tick.  Is it possible to do this without video interviews?  Of course.  However, it will take much more time to do so when you are simply having phone conversations.

By integrating video interviews into your staffing business, you will be able to recruit top talent for your clients quickly and accurately.  With the large number of job orders you are receiving each day, accurate time savers can be the difference between a 40 hour work week versus a 60 hour work week.
