Wellness and well-being became serious considerations for HR about ten years ago, though interest accelerated in recent years. However, the last year and a half pushed the concepts of our shared humanity to the forefront.
Much of the discussion in HR and the broader business community has been about managing employee stress (and our own) in especially hectic and unpredictable times. However, on a much more positive note, there has been a marked increase in employees and organizations seeking ways to help each other.
Understanding the workforce from their years of dealing with the human side of it, isolved decided to make a bold move and with a portal for employees and organizations to express their sense of community and caring by acquiring Givful, which Brandon Hall Group wrote about at the time.
The next step in that process was to combine Givful’s capabilities and mission with isolved’s powerful platform, integrations and data to create isolved Giving & Volunteering, a new offering from isolved that allows organizations to match and track donations, employees to easily contribute to charities or local communities of their choice and much more.
Recent Brandon Hall Group research showed that the top four challenges organizations faced in trying to create a sense of community in their workforce were:
- Lack of priority
- Time
- Current organizational culture
- Technology
isolved Giving & Volunteering solves all of these challenges. Lack of priority can no longer be an excuse as isolved Giving & Volunteering allows employees to develop their own community by interacting with the platform with their own initiatives. Organizations gain any time loss they might incur through streamlined tax and compliance automations.
Culture, although at third was still a prominent factor, is the most readily addressed of these challenges. By creating a sense of togetherness and place within the local community and beyond, employees will be more engaged at work, more likely to feel included and engender a culture that recognizes and rewards helping others.
The technology piece of course is what isolved Giving & Volunteering is all about. There have been many hardships and pressures on the workforce but that does not mean we must lose our sense of togetherness. As one of the few solutions with the means to help employees express their desire to engage with each other — and their community — isolved is doing more than healing to solve a problem; they are giving the workforce the means to help each other.
