The EEOC announced that starting August 24th, the EEOC Training Institute is debuting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) workshops, beginning with "Understanding Unconscious Bias in the Workplace." The discussion will focus on how bias occurs in the workplace, the varying kinds of biases, and microaggression. Additionally, the session will provide best practices for organizations to minimize unconscious bias in the workplace. Although training is available for all interested, it will be directed towards attorneys, mediators, human resource personnel, union officials, equal employment opportunity (EEO) professionals.

Rosa Viramontes, district director for the EEOC's Los Angeles District Office, stated that "The fight to obtain equal employment opportunity for all is the fight for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace." Viramontes is welcoming the efforts of the DE&I workshop and looks forward to co-sponsoring. Katrina Grider, associate director of curriculum, education, and training for the EEOC, added, "In today's society, employers need to understand the importance of DE&I training and program implementation and the profound impact it can have on the entire workforce."

The EEOC Training Institute site provides training and technical assistance listings to help employers correct discrimination in the workplace. Programs are available under the EEOC Education, Technical Assistance, and Training Revolving Fund Act of 1992.
