Job Seeking

As the current situation continues to unfold, a number of difficult workplace realities have already set in. While most organizations are facing a loss in business amidst the financial downturn, some companies have been forced to furlough or layoff employees. The good news is that a number of companies are continuing to hire or are even ramping up hiring in order to meet the economy’s new demands. If you have found yourself on the job hunt during these uncertain times, here’s a compiled list of resources for job-seeking recruiters, sourcers, and Talent Acquisition professionals to help you land your next gig.

Companies and Industries That Are Hiring
While it’s true that many companies – especially those in the service industry – have been hit hard, there are some industries in which there is increased demand and therefore, increased hiring. These industries include healthcare and health tech organizations, online education services, digital conferencing technologies, manufacturing companies, grocery, and consumer goods giants like Safeway, Amazon, and Walmart.

A great resource to stay up-to-date on the hiring trends of organizations globally is Candor’s Live Hiring Freeze List, which is user-generated and indicates companies that are hiring, on a hiring freeze, or laying off employees. This is a great starting point in your search to understand where you should target your search and in what industries you’ll find the most opportunities.

Job Boards
There are a ton of great resources popping up for people who have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. Some other sites to check out include:

Online Communities and Forums
Additionally, many members of the talent community have taken to online forums such as the ERE and SourceCon Facebook groups to share job leads and insights into hiring trends for recruiters and talent acquisition professionals. Another great Facebook group to check out is the Free Resume Review which was created to give people displaced by COVID-19 layoffs access to resume reviews, interview prep assistance, and networking opportunities.

Another easy way to surface actively recruiting companies is to run a #hiring search on Linkedin. The talent community has really come together over the last few weeks to connect those displaced by layoffs with companies that are currently hiring – and much of this activity is taking place within the #hiring thread.

Additional Resources
One of the best ways to prepare yourself for the months ahead is to stay informed. To that end, Talent Board’s Coronavirus In The Workplace resource page is a great point of reference for what is happening within the HR and talent community in response to COVID-19. Ranging from upcoming webinars for crisis management, virtual hiring, and candidate communications to forums and discussion boards, there are a variety of resources available to you to keep you abreast of the changing recruiting landscape.

Finally, it’s important to bolster your skillset to meet the demands of today’s workplace. That means becoming an expert in the industry’s new norm – virtual hiring.
