UKG, a leading provider of HR, payroll, and workforce management solutions for all people, today announced the grand opening of a new Innovation Hub in Montevideo, Uruguay. Currently housing 100 engineers, the office is located in the Technological Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU) — the country’s heart of technological advancement — and will play a direct role in the development and delivery of award-winning HCM and workforce management solutions from UKG.

“We’re on a mission to help organizations create great cultures that elevate their people and unlock the best possible business outcomes. Our team in Uruguay is vital to those efforts,” said Hugo Sarrazin, chief product and technology officer at UKG. “With one of the best technology communities in South America, we’re proud to play a central role in the growth and development of the talented people who call Montevideo home.”

The UKG Uruguay team, which initially joined the company through the 2022 acquisition of Ascentis Corporation, continues to rapidly grow and is currently focused on a variety of key UKG offerings, including the development of the forthcoming UKG Great Place To Work® Hub. Built with accessibility in mind, this industry-first solution correlates decades of Great Place To Work research and survey results with UKG Pro HCM data to help HR professionals and people leaders achieve their people and business goals, while enhancing hiring, development, promotion, payroll, and scheduling practices.

An official grand-opening event commemorated the milestone. Omar Paganini — minister of industry, energy, and mining for Uruguay — attended, as well as UKG leaders Charlie Ward, vice president of technology; Yevgeniy Goyfman and Heather Peck, vice presidents of engineering; and Chiara Toscani, director of software engineering.

“We’re pleased to partner with the Uruguayan government as we grow our local presence,” said Sarrazin. “Our UKG values of united, kind, and growing provide a foundation for all that we do, and they enable professional and personal success for U Krewers around the world.”

Following the grand opening, Sarrazin is slated to present at IT Builders Live, on May 27, delivering a keynote about “how AI can be in service of people.”

UKG has a proven track record of success and a commitment of excellence in global talent and culture with offices in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia Pacific and has recently been recognized by Forbes as one of the World’s Best Employers (#6 in tech, #40 overall), as well as a great workplace for IT professionals, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities.
