I would be able to penetrate one of the world’s greatest hospital systems, in New York, and interview those who had lived and led the city through a once- in-a-lifetime pandemic. I fear infection and the sense of looming decay. Hospitals, we know too well, can be the portal to death but also a place of miracles and cures.
