Drawing on 10 years of data, CUPA-HR found that between 2012 and 2022, the representation of people of color in higher ed administration increased by 41%. In 2012, people of color comprised 13% of administrators and in 2022, 18% of administrators. CHRO gender pay equity remains low.

I therefore thought it might be appropriate to start this year’s posting by reviewing Cornell CAHRS’ report, the 2011 CHRO challenges (based upon meeting the CEO’s needs for HR). The other reason that I wanted to pick up on this is that for the first time in three years, CAHRS have been able to separate out European data.

The breakdown of participants looks like: CHRO and Vice President of HR: 30%. Over the course of a 90 day period (Ending on 5 September 2019), we collected survey responses from 542 individuals. We used email lists to target HR executives. We did not purchase any responses. Director Talent Acquisition: 12%. Recruiting: 17%. L&D: 9%.

However, based on a new survey published in Human Resource Executive , the title really should have been HR is a 47 Year Old White Woman – Unless They’re the CHRO of a Major Employer. Unless we’re talking the CHRO job. I think it’s still relevant. And I’m on vacation.
