Today’s Time Well Spent from our friends at Kronos reminds me of that old saying, “ Good, Fast, or Cheap – Pick Two ”. Recruiting : Once the company has designed jobs that people want, they must create a strategy to make those job openings known. The saying represents the idea that we can get quality quickly, but it will cost us.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about Kronos’ new next generation workforce management solution called Workforce Dimensions. Dr. Thomas Walsh is the director of data science at Kronos, where he leads the application of cutting edge machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to workforce data.
That’s why I wanted to share with you this Time Well Spent from our friends at Kronos. Ends up, their challenge wasn’t training. At least not entirely. The issue was staffing and scheduling. Yes, it’s important to be staffing right with the best talent. And it’s important to train employees.
I know that Christmas was last month, but I can’t resist sharing this Time Well Spent from our friends at Kronos because it beautifully demonstrates that staffing and scheduling are two different things. Staffing is about finding the right people to do the work. And scheduling is about making sure they show up at the right times.

The data might help us make a decision, notice a trend, or monitor our effectiveness. But when we get lots of data, it can be tempting to spend ridiculous amounts of time studying it. So, we don’t need to overthink it.
Today’s Time Well Spent from our friends at Kronos made me laugh because sometimes we can feel exhausted but not very accomplished. The reason I like this system is because it keeps things off my desk. Except for the work I need to be focused on. I find that keeps me productive. Working faster isn’t always working smarter.
That’s why I really loved this Time Well Spent from our friends at Kronos. Today’s business world is moving so quickly that it’s possible I’ll do something in the future that hasn’t even been invented yet! It reminded me that I have the ability to do new and different things. It made me feel like I don’t have to ever grow up.
