Determine the Right Employee Salary Increase Using People Analytics

Visier

This suggests that spreading pay raises across the board, like peanut butter on toast, has become an outdated practice. In many cases (beyond cost of living adjustments) this is a step in the right direction.

And gamification can hopefully help businesses motivate and empower a mostly listless workforce to reverse nearly $7 trillion in lost productivity. .

We've all seen it before—you get an application from a candidate that is simply overqualified for the position that she's seeking. Employees Don’t Respond to Perks, They Respond to Culture

DecisionWise

A few days ago, Jordan Yadoo at Bloomberg reported that employees will give up big pay raises in exchange for job perks. The reported statistics were eye-catching, with the headline teasing that “Americans Are Willing to Forgo a 56% Pay Raise for Best Job Perks.” At the end of the day, I agree with Mr. Yadoo’s findings, but not his headline. Employees do not give up pay for perks!

Culture is a marathon, not a sprint. But in recent years, a trend has developed around treating culture as a commodity — one that can be purchased and distributed. my employer fined me $90 for being late

Ask a Manager

A reader writes. My company has a ridiculous late fine policy: you will be fined $2 for every minute, starting from 9:01 a.m. So if you come in at 9:05 a.m., that’s $10 you gotta pay up in cash. (This is not somewhere where down-to-the-minute coverage would be essential. It’s just typical deskbound, back-end work. I can see why the receptionist who gets the calls will need to be there smack on the dot, but the rest of us — not really.).
