Recommended Human Resources Conferences To Attend in 2015

Unbridled Talent

Recently, one of my contacts who is planning her 2015 schedule sent me a question asking for my recommendations for the top 2 – 3 conferences to attend in the US for HR professionals. One of my plans for next year is to attend more conferences in the US; ideally I’d like to attend events where there is a lot of networking, collaborating and great speakers. Since there are so many events happening all the time, it’s hard for me to assess which ones are best.

Nine Things NOT To Do at #SHRM14

True Faith HR

In less than a month, individuals will be heading to Orlando to attend the 2014 SHRM Annual Conference. This will be my 14th SHRM Annual Conference, and, based on my years of experience, here are the things you do NOT want to do while attending. Do NOT bring a rollerbag to the conference I have posted this several times since 2010, and people are still not listening. It tells me you do not have enough material for the time required.

my boss told me “sorry isn’t good enough anymore,” wearing see-through blouses to work, and more

Ask a Manager

But I’d also take your boss’s statement as a sign that you don’t have a lot more rope here, or more time — so whatever you can figure out to do, make sure you’re really committing to it. Every year in January, we go on a week’s conference, usually abroad, to celebrate the previous year’s hard work and success. For January’s conference, I will be 26 weeks pregnant. Instead, just send a sincere thanks for her time and her insight.

giving employees my family’s personal holiday card, turning down a promotion because of co-op income limits, and more

Ask a Manager

Even though I like my roommates, I’ve wanted to live by myself for a long time. Stick with some sort of food gift for the group, or — better — additional time off or letting people leave early without charging their PTO. I do have a bachelor’s degree, but I’m still working part-time to earn my masters. It’s five answers to five questions. Here we go…. Turning down a promotion to keep my income within the range for a co-op building.

Getting Started with Talent Analytics: An HR Director’s Tale

Cielo HR Leader

After much searching and a couple of additional calls to his daughter, for help navigating his way around LinkedIn, he found what seemed to be two excellent groups 1) People Analytics: Data Driven HR and 2) what would become, as time wore on, a very familiar hang out for the HRD, Measuring Human Capital. Go to a conference and network. Being in HR, the HRD liked nothing better than going to conferences and networking with peers. Picture the scene.
